Using a modified seismic reflection imaging system with rapid translation of receivers, stratigraphic profiles were collected at the Gault site in central Texas. For rapid data collection, spikeless geophone receivers were placed in sand-filled bags at tight spacing, and these receivers were rapidly pulled along the ground surface between shots. Samples from the western part of the gulf were characterized by a diverse assemblage that included Bulimina spp., Bolivina spp., agglutinants, miliolids and a variety of small, epiphytic rotaliid taxa. The rest of the gulf presented a monotonous fauna, dominated mostly by stress-tolerant species.

Multichannel seismic-reflection profiles collected in in the western Gulf of Alaska [microform] / b Interpretation of magnetic maps of the northern Gulf of Alaska, with emphasis on the source of the slope Multichannel seismic-reflection profiles collected in in the eastern Gulf of Alaska.

During the experiment, high-resolution multichannel seismic reflection data using a channel, m long streamer and wide-aperture data using six ocean bottom seismometers were collected along. Multichannel minisparker and boomer seismic-reflection data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in September of in Port Valdez, Alaska.

Data were collected aboard the USGS R/V Alaskan Gyre during field activity GGA, using a Joule SIG 2-mille minisparker or an Applied Acoustics triple plated S-Boomer sound source and a. Existing cores and seismic reflection records collected from ice island T-3, the LOREX, CESAR, and FRAM I–IV experiments, and the U.S.

Coast Guard cutter Polar Star provide an adequate basis for initiating a coring program, but additional seismic reflection data would be needed to achieve optimum stratigraphic coverage. Deep‐penetration multichannel seismic reflection profiles reveal that the San Pedro Shelf section of the PVF separates heavily deformed Miocene and Pliocene strata on the western limb from relatively flat‐lying upper Pliocene and Quaternary strata on the east, giving an up‐to‐the‐southwest sense of offset [Brankman and Shaw, Cited by: 8.

In this study, we reinterpreted multichannel seismic-reflection (MCS) data collected in and by the U.S. Geological Survey offshore of the Andreanof Islands. Velocity-amplitude anomalies (VAMPs) have long been identified as distinct seismic reflection features of the Aleutian and Bowers basins of the Bering Sea (Scholl and Cooper, ; Kvenvolden, ; Saltikova et al., ; Rearic et al., ).The VAMPs comprise a seismic bright spot and a warping of reflection horizons (Figure 1).Both of these anomalous aspects stand out within the otherwise.

In his book “The Earth”, Jeffreys () discussed in much detail the subdivision of the crust based on near-earthquake observations in continental regions.

In his summary on the upper layers of the Earth he concludes that three layers are concerned: an upper layer, 10 km thick, with P-velocities – km/s, an intermediate layer, 20 km thick, with – km/s and a lower layer with Cited by: S. We present a 2‐D P wave velocity model and a coincident multichannel seismic reflection profile characterizing the structure of the southern Costa Rica margin and incoming Cocos Ridge. The seismic profiles image the ocean and overriding plates from the trench across the entire offshore margin, including the structures involved in the Osa.

A high-resolution multichannel seismic reflection survey of the shelf and upper slope has been conducted as part of the Office of Naval Research STRATAFORM initiative, with the goal of understanding processes affecting sediment dispersal and preservation in this complex continental margin setting. In the western North Atlantic, killer whales occur from the polar ice pack to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico (Würsig et al.
